Power in the Helping Professions. Power in the Helping Professions with regard to the Specific Environment of a Czech Orphanage.
Balická, Kateřina ; Ulrichová, Monika (advisor) ; Hudcová, Eliška (referee)
1 Abstract The aim of the thesis 'Power in the Helping Professions' is to describe the specifics of power in the relationship between the helping party and the recipient of the help. The work presents possible theoretical concepts through which we are able to analyse power relationships within helping professions. Furthermore, the thesis highlights the theory of the dependency triangle. The theory can be used to better understand the relationships in which power is used to meet the needs of the 'more powerful' party in the relationship. In the second part of the thesis, the issue of power is embedded in the orphanage setting and, in the educator-child relationship in the orphanage. This part offers an application of the dependency triangle concept for the purpose of power positions and power relationships reflection among the helping professions.

Berková, Klára ; Soukupová, Tereza (advisor) ; Michálková, Lucie (referee)
My bachelor thesis is devoted to Profiles of Care Occupations in MMPI- 2. The thesis is devided into 2 parts -a theoretical and an empirical. The theoretical part explains the expressions such as "personality", "caring", "prosocial behaviour", "care occupations" and "volunteerism". I describe the personality of a care occupation mainly from the point of view of individual personal characteristics. The explanation of the characteristics is based on the researched facts. I operate with a questionnaire Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory 2 in the empirical part of thesis, I decided to include an introduction of this psychodiagnostical procedure and I focuse it on diagnosing those personal characteristics that are connected to care occupation personality. Empirical part of thesis is devoted to a research based on following questions: 1) Do psychologists, the representatives of care occupations, show this characteristics in a questionnaire MMPI-2 that are commonly connected to care occupations in general? 2) Do the psychologists differ from volunteers in their scores in MMPI-2 (in terms of comparing profiles of personal characteristics of those 2 named groups)? 5

My diploma thesis is called The Palliative Care of Dying People with Intellectual Disabilities in Sheltered Housing. The purpose of the text is to create an overview study of palliative care about dying people with mental disabilities. The reason why I have decided to focus on such a relevant issue is a wide shortage of information in Czech Republic compared to other countries. In the first section I talk about the ethics dilemma of palliative care. By ethics dilemma I mean problems that are needed to be dealt with in palliative care. One of them is the decision if it is adequate to die in an institution or in a home environment. In this section for instance it is described if it is necessarily to tell the truth the patients about their health conditions. The text is also referring to the medical advances comparing to quality of life of dying people. I also describe what the quality of life means to people and how to reach the highest level of quality of life in palliative care. In the second part of my thesis I describe the social, health and other services which are suitable for dying people and their relatives. Most of the named...

JIROUTOVÁ, Kristýna
The presented bachelor thesis deals with helping profession and the first year of practicing the profession, namely the profession of psychologist. The theoretical part explains and defines the basic concepts related to this issue: helping profession; prosocial behavior, specifically altruism and empathy; helping; ethics in a helping profession, competence in the helping profession and supervision. The empirical part of the bachelor thesis is based on a psychology student's journal, which maps her first year of work in a psychiatric hospital. Journal entries were analyzed using the open coding. From the open coding came the following categories: relationship with colleagues, relationship to patients, relationship to the institution and problems the student had to deal with during the practice. The main subject of the study was how is changing student's style of work with patients and her view on the role of helping profession during the first year of practice. Data analysis has shown a certain naivety of the early stage worker in the helping profession and the subsequent transition to a realistic view of the helping profession. The results are always described using this scale, naivety reality.
